The largest congregation of teachers took a test to become Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) certificated. Around 3,173 school teachers from different parts of the country got recognised as MIE digital classroom teachers after qualifying and passing the test conducted by Tech Avant-Garde (TAG), technology powered Ed-Tech company and a Global Training Partner of Microsoft in Education.

As part of the Knowledge L’avenir Conclave (KLC) webinar series, which started on Teacher’s Day 2020, and will continue till November 2020, 300 teachers trained nearly 5,000 teachers from across the country. The first assessment was held on Sunday, September 28, 2020.

As it is important for teachers to get a degree/ diploma in teaching to become a qualified teacher, similarly to be recognised as a digital teacher MIE certificate is necessary.

Ali Sait CEO of Tech Avant-Garde said: “Teacher is an important stakeholder of education. By empowering them we can empower society. If teachers are not digitally skilled, our formal education will collapse and have a serious impact on human capital. Today, knowledge is the greatest asset, the benefits of information-rich, technology-enhanced connected learning environment must be extended to students, teachers, parents, schools and entire communities to learn without limits. Training and certification 5,000 teachers is just the tip of the iceberg, Tech Avant-Garde is finding ways to digitally skill 26 million teachers in India and many more across the world.”

UV-ray device to disinfect air from AC

Researchers from Lovely Professional University have developed a device that can be installed in air conditioners to disinfect the air they dispense from viruses and harmful gases. The devices comprises of a set of UV tubes which emit rays at a particular wavelength to destroy the viruses present in the air flow of the AC. The device also removes hazardous gases like Sox and Nox from the air.

The device circulates pure air inside the room as soon as the AC is turned on. The sensing unit ignites the tube, whilst the indicator installed inside the unit, displays when the tubes need to be  replaced. The research team has developed prototypes and necessary testing has been completed. It took the team about  one month to prepare the module. The cost of each module is between Rs 1,500-Rs 2,000.
