Empowering the education sector was the major topic of discussion at this Indian Educational Congress, 2013, held in the Capital recently.  With the advancement in technology that has eased day to day working pressures, we are living in the most interesting times. According to Ritu Marya, editor in chief, retailer, Franchise India Holdings lTD and the host of Indian Education Congress 2013, there are 22 per cent engineers who are not fit for their job. Thus, everything needs to be revamped. Mayra has a 3Cs approach to Indian Education.

Consumption being the first on her list. “The education system has to be designed in a manner where the consumer needs are fulfilled. Even new sets of consumptions need to be looked into. There are families in other parts of the country who come to India for higher studies. But our children prefer to pay a huge amount to get themselves enrolled in some of the other foreign university. We can and must do something about this. If they have a demand for better infrastructure, better educational facilities etc, we must provide it to our children,” Marya says.

Second comes  Collaboration. “By public-private partnership, we can fill the skill and employment gap. Industry people know what they expect from an employer. So by conducting assessments, short term courses, etc, we can make the young lot of employers job ready. At the higher education platform, many foreign collaborations are happening. This  helps the student to grow. Our education system is also quite sufficient. We need to promote establishment of foreign universities in India,” Marya says. Third comes Commitment. “The Government and the stakeholders should commit towards the development and improvement of the Indian education scenario needs to be more focused,” she concludes.
