The University days of a student’s academic career go a long way in defining his future in every respect, ranging from lifestyle to key professional accomplishments,” says Dr KK Aggarwal, policy adviser to the upcoming KR Mangalam University at Sohna Road, Gurgaon.
He also feels that experiences gained at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, particularly in inter-personal relationships, determine the course of one’s intellectual thinking.
With vast experience of holding prestigious academic posts and as former vice-chancellor of IGNOU, Dr KK Aggarwal, has been instrumental in bringing about several progressive measures for pro-active thinking at the university level.
He feels that college is an essential part of life which every student must try to live, irrespective of the stream of studies one follows. Every college, he reiterates, has its own personality, culture and aura, whether it be a business college or an engineering college, or even a college offering honours courses in various subjects.
The three years of undergraduate levels and two years of post graduate levels are the phases that one spends maximum time with exactly like-minded people of the same age group, more or less with similar interests and pursuits, and in most cases, similar socio-economic strata.
This according to Dr Aggarwal, is a very crucial facet of life, and shapes one perspective of life in a more pragmatic way.
Prof Tripathi, academic advisor for the KR Mangalam University, endorses the view and says that students must experience good college life. The ability to handle situations as young adults, he says, comes from college experiences.
As V-C of Agra University and through holding other top positions, Prof Tripathi is credited with shaping careers of thousands of students. His view holds like a vision statement for the upcoming KR Mangalam University. He advocates monitored freedom, guided liberty and nurtured intellectual growth for every student.
