Pallavi Rao talks to Sangeeta Yadav about rojgarmantra.com which aims at providing job opportunities in both the organised and unorganised sectors

What is rojgarmantra.com aboutIJ

It’s a rural job portal which offers job opportunities in the organised and unorganised sectors to the people in semi urban and rural India. Our aim is to be a medium for employers to pour their requirements and search for the right candidate and for jobseekers to get their dream job in the local areas.

How does this workIJ

We’ve strong industry links with companies all over the country. Initially, a jobseeker has to register with the portal by submitting one time nominal fee of Rs100. Once the registration is done, candidate’s resume is created by the panel of experts. Services like counselling and personality grooming are provided to the candidate.

A username and password is provided to them to access the portal and apply for any jobs available on the website. The portal filters the most relevant vacancies for the candidates and equips one with the most suitable jobs.

What’s the target audienceIJ

Rojgar Mantra will focus on local, entry level jobs at the small town, district and block levels. We are covering sectors like organised retail, textile, IT and ITES, finance and banking, administration, education and training, agriculture and allied sectors as well as hardware and networking.

The portal is currently focusing in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, Orissa, Gujarat and Punjab. Subsequently, our efforts will also be replicated in other states.

How many people have registered so farIJ

Till now, two lakh applicants have registered with the portal and the job seeker registration is being done through 1,000 Rojgar Mantra Employment Exchange Centres that we’ve established across various States.

What is the job scenario at the grassroots levelIJ

It’s estimated that around 90 per cent of the working population is employed in the unorganised sector. It’s a misconception that there is a dearth of jobs in rural India. The Government also, with its massive digitisation projects across all departments, is providing lucrative job opportunities for entry level IT professionals in rural region. The opportunities today have reached a threshold value and are estimated to grown rapidly year on year.

Currently, opportunities available in the unorganised sector include job of a cashier, data-entry operator, toll tax collector, sales representative, marketing executive, peon, telly operator etc.

Do you have assessment facilityIJ

Currently, we don’t have such a section. However, in the near future we would be coming up with post job placement services wherein up-skilling of employees can be done by companies.

Job seekers can always enroll for a skill enhancement programmes through AISECT’s six major academies which offer numerous university-certified UG, PG, certificate and diploma courses.

What about remuneration of the employeesIJ

Since we are looking at fulfilling the recruiters’ demand for entry level jobs, the salary offered to the candidates would be anywhere from Rs7,000 to Rs25,000 per month.

What are the future plansIJ

In coming months, we’ll be organising multiple Rojgar melas at district and block levels across 10 States where over 100 companies would be participating. They will select candidates for their requirements across various departments.

We are also planning to link up with various corporates for employee training and up-skilling programmes.
