Students can make the most of summer vacations by taking up coaching or enrolling themselves for fruitful camps and also concentrating on studies, says Raunak Jain
All students await their summer vacations with excitement, with a bagful of plans in mind. Most of them plan a trip with family and friends, a few join new activities and college-going students go for summer internships. After the scorching heat and long study hours, a break from school and college is crucial for you to relax, at least for a few days.
However, spending the entire day with mere enjoyment is not enough because once the vacations end, you have to get back to college or school. So, it is better to not break off the connection with notes and books and maintain a track of studies by studying for a few hours daily. Many times, it gets tough for students to concentrate on studies, without any burden, tests or evaluations, due to which one tends to turn off the brain entirely. Having said that, nowadays students are becoming career conscious and often spend their vacations taking up coaching or enrolling themselves for fruitful camps.
Summer vacations can be productively geared towards pursuits that make one happy and would also someday help them in their career. One must make most out of his summer vacations by concentrating on studies.
Here are a few tips that will help you concentrate on studies during vacations:
Time Management
Managing one’s time well is a prerequisite to a balanced lifestyle. Until and unless one knows how to manage time, he or she ends up wasting some valuable moments. Managing time makes one focused and punctual in doing work. Time management helps you plan out the vacation properly so that a balance between a trip and holiday homework can be managed. Time management is a key to a funfilled vacation.
Course Timeline
Setting the course timeline is an imperative tool for staying on track with the course syllabus. It is important to keep a check on the timeline regularly and make sure one doesn’t lag. It also helps in managing time appropriately, as one can plan work accordingly. One can mark all the important dates on a calendar and draft a balanced timeline for himself. Maintaining timelines helps in giving equal time to all subjects without hampering any one subject.
Exercise to refresh mind
Sometimes, students are stressed out during their summer breaks. Having homework and tests right after the vacation makes them tense. So, it is crucial to include regular exercise in the holiday regimen for a healthy body and mind. It helps to inculcate a better concentration in students, thereby enabling them to study with a fresh mind.
Refine your concepts
Students should revise existing concepts and hone skills to achieve their best. Putting in some extra effort in summer vacations helps the students refine their concepts and work on the subjects they are weak in. A few students prepare for and give Olympiads through which they get scholarships. This motivates them and increases their concentration levels. Students who study over the summer vacation are better able to build on the concepts from the previous year.
Reading habit
Being an avid reader instills a high level of concentration in students. This makes them focused and also improves their vocabulary. Reading exercises the brain by instilling better imaginative ideas and creativity amongst the students. It enhances the knowledge of the students.
In addition, reading is a great method for students to learn new vocabulary and grammar and challenge themselves mentally, especially when they are regularly going to change their reading material.
Concentrating on studies is the most important part of every student’s life. Studying during summer vacations doesn’t mean one has to give up on their leisure time. Therefore, they can work on themselves and become more focused towards their goal in life, yet maintain a balance between work and leisure. They must always make sure that they stay on track in terms of their goals and plan their daily schedule properly to remain focused.
