Pearson India in collaboration with FICE Education, a leading provider of experiential learning in engineering, has launched a new programme titled “Intelligence and Data Engineering Analytics (IDEA).” The partnership will provide students with access to high-quality educational content from the world’s leading institutions through edx.org.

The programme is delivered at multiple campuses belonging to Holy Mary Group of Institutions and Nalanda Institute of Technology in Telengana and Andhra Pradesh. It seeks to help students work effectively in a team to achieve goals; solve problems using critical thinking; apply data analysis techniques and tools to analyse and visualise data, make decisions and predictions using machine learning techniques; build a network of engineering and industry professional colleagues and build skills to increase employability.

The blended learning programme combines online courses from edX.org with face-to-face sessions and lab work, delivered by FICE instructors in India. The programme lasts 40 weeks. Successful students will earn certification from edX, its partner universities and Pearson. The edX courses included in the partnership provide students with the opportunity to gain knowledge in the most in-demand fields, including Data Science and Machine learning. These courses are:

  • Introduction to Python for Data Science from Microsoft
  • Enabling Technologies for Data Science and Analytics: The Internet of Things from Columbia University
  • Introduction to Data Analysis Using Excel from Microsoft
  • Introduction to Project Management from the University of Adelaide
  • Data Science Essentials from Microsoft
  • Machine learning for Data Science and Analytics from Columbia University

The various elements of the IDEA programme have been designed by Pearson and FICE, including courses on edX from Columbia University, Adelaide University and Microsoft.

Nagesh Singh, executive director, FICE Education said: “We have helped 200 leading institutions around India set up IoT and artificial intelligence labs focused on the areas that are evolving and innovating at the most rapid pace today. Through this partnership, we will be able to develop technical skills and enhance the employability of Indian students”.
