Molecular Biology
The University of Sheffield, UK, is inviting applications for MSc Molecular Biology and Biotechnology programme starting in September 2018. The biotechnological applications of molecular biology underpin major industries in the medical and agricultural sectors. Insights from the study of genetic material are already benefitting the development of new diagnostic tests, therapeutic agents, bio-energy production systems, improved crops and more.
Successful graduates can take up further study at PhD level or can get employment in the biotechnology sector.
Students will learn essential practical skills; study the relevant theory in the Departments of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (MBB) and Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE); and carry out an individual research project, in which they will learn how to design and conduct research, keep records and present the research in different styles.
Eligibility: A first class or second class BSc honours degree, or equivalent, in a molecular biology related subject (eg, biochemistry, genetics, biotechnology, microbiology). Applicants with professional experience may also be considered following the interview.
Overall IElTS grade of 7.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in each component, or equivalent.
Fee: The annual fee for overseas students starting in 2018 is £21450. For more information, contact- linda.harris@sheffield.ac.uk.
