Teno App, India’s leading free-to-use mobile app for schools, organised a panel discussion where reputed educationists from the city deliberated on the role of educators in promoting emotional well-being amongst school students. This event witnessed participation from over 100 schools, which is one of the largest congregations of school principals for any city event.
Speaking about this initiative, Anurag Dixit, vice president, Teno App, said: “A child spends most of the active time of the day in school. Hence it is imperative that schools have the right environment and infrastructure to accentuate the overall growth and well-being of the child. With the same intention in mind, we collaborated with the educational Heads of schools to come together and raise awareness on the role of schools to secure the child's wellbeing and tackle the issues.”
The event started with a workshop for the principals conducted by Dr Kunal Kala, renowned child psychologist, on how teachers or principals can read early signs of stress in students and understand peculiar habits or responses from children, to gauge their stress levels. Dr Kala addressed the key concerns among teachers, like lack of personal time for students due to tedious schedules, parent expectations and social pressure on children. He encouraged principals to ensure holistic training modules for teachers and to implement alternate techniques for engaging with students like mindfulness and monitoring the behavioural pattern of the child.
This was followed by an elaborate panel discussion, led by Kishore Pillai, senior consultant to International Schools, Trustee (RIMS group of schools); Husien Dohadwalla, academic director and guidance counsellor at DY Patil International School Network; Asha Narayanan, principal, lodha World School, Thane; Archana Neginhal, director, academics at Jyotirmay International School; Dr Kunal Kala, child psychologist, and Anurag Dixit, vice president, Teno App.
