The National Institute of Fashion Technology has announced exam dates for the NIFT Entrance Exam 2017 for granting admission to undergraduate courses like Bachelor of Design (B.Des.) and Bachelor of Fashion Technology (B.F.Tech) and postgraduate courses like Master of Design (M.Des), Master of Fashion Technology (M.F.Tech) and Master of Fashion Management (M.F.M).

Eligibility

• Undergraduate courses: Candidates must have passed 10+2 examination or equivalent exam from any recognised Central/State board. Candidates who have cleared 3-4 year diploma recogniSed by AICTE or State Board of Technical Education are also eligible to apply. The maximum age should be 23 years as on October 1, 2017 for general candidates. Five years relaxation will be given on maximum age limit for SC, ST or Differently Abled Person (PHP) candidates.
• Postgraduate courses: For MDes and MFM programme, candidates must have passed an undergraduate degree from any institution/university recognised by law in India. For MFTech course, candidates should have cleared BFTech from NIFT or BE/BTech from any institution/university recognised by law in India.

There is not any minimum or maximum age limit for master programmes. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

Exam pattern

The written entrance examination is designed to test the knowledge, skill and aptitude of the candidates for the programme opted. No negative marking is present.

Selection process

The BDes candidates will be called for second test called situation test on the basis of GAT and CAT. For selection in BFTech, General Ability Test (GAT) will be the final test whereas for MDes, candidates will take GAT and Common Admission Test (CAT). On the basis of the result, candidates will be called for group discussion/personal interview.

Important dates

The registration for the exam will be open till January 10 and the exam is scheduled to be held on February 12, 2017. Admit cards will be available online from January 21, 2017.

The test timings for the exams are:

• CAT exam for Bachelor of Design and Master of Design will be held at 10 am to 1 pm.
• GAT exam for Bachelor of Fashion Technology, Master of Fashion Technology and Master of Fashion Management is 10 am to 1 pm where as for Bachelor of Design and Master of Design is 2 pm to 4 pm.
