Each criteria has key aspects and NAAC grades the institutions for each under four categories viz A, B, C and D, denoting very good, good, satisfactory and unsatisfactory levels respectively.

sign language converter

Students of Amrita School of Engineering’s Amrita Robotics Research lab (ARRl) have developed a ‘smart glove’ called Mudra which converts hand gestures based on Indian sign language into spoken English, potentially paving the way for speech-impaired individuals to communicate more effectively with others. The feat was achieved by a team of four BTech students — Abhijith Bhaskaran, Anoop G Nair, Deepak Ram and Krishnan Ananthanarayanan — mentored by HR Nandi Vardhan, Asst Professor, Dept of ECE, Amrita School of Engineering,  Amrita University.

The lightweight MUDRA glove can be worn like a riding glove. It recognises hand gestures in all directions and angles using flex resistors, accelerometer and gyroscope.

This occasion was graced by the presence of Rajesh Aggarwal, principal secretary, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship who encouraged the young leaders and made the occasion momentous.

super computer developed

A team of students from the Department of  Computer Science and Engineering, Rama University,  under the guidance of VC Dr Rushen Chahal, developed an experimental super computer based on linux operating system.

It works on MPICH, said to be a high performance and  portable implementation of  Message Passing Interface (MPI)  and  widely used in super computer generation.

Development of  PARAM-8000 by Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (CDAC) was  the inspiration among students as the USA denied a super computer to India due to arms embargo imposed on India in 1980 as they believed that India can use it to develop nuclear weapons.

Chahal said that the development of this super computer will provide an acceleration among young students to take  great challenges to invent new types of digital gadgets which will be helpful for industries to ease their work.

For this, they are providing them a right preparatory guidance to work on these types of projects.
