Need for edu-tech
Mukta Gogia tells you that in today’s competitive world, it is important for coaching centres to be tech-savvy to ensure student retention
With every other online competitive exam, the test prep sector has seen a revolution in students’ exam preparation at home or in the classroom. Giving a fillip to his confidence and score card is online learning through modern means, a student’s most-prized possession — a smartphone and a laptop.
In tune with this silent digital revolution, some coaching centres have gone the extra mile by joining hands with some edu-tech companies specialising in online testing and assessment. Consequently, their students’ results have seen an appreciable improvement. TCYonline is one such company which has made a name for itself and is helping coaching centres boost their profits through enhanced student enrolments.
Be it a Combined Admission Test (CAT) for IIMs, Railways, Banking or PTE, online help is always available to students. Specially designed programmes for coaching centres is a boon for those living in small towns and cities.
Recently, a mobile app called My Coach through which a coaching centre student can attempt his tests online at any time and anywhere, was launched. An analytical report generated after the test helps him benchmark his performance with similar kinds of students preparing for that particular exam sitting in other parts of the country.
Following the success of this programme, more and more coaching centres in the country have started adding online assessment facilities. The company also provides the coaching centres with the facility to generate customised tests as per their students’ requirements — by choosing a topic, sub-topic, marking scheme, difficulty level of questions, number of questions and test duration.
This has been possible due to direct student enrolments on the platform from every nook and corner of the country. For the uninitiated, over 5 lakh students prepared through the platform last year. The figure is estimated to shoot up to a million this year. It saw 300 per cent growth in coaching centre acquisition this financial year and expects exponential increase in the coming years.
With increasing Internet penetration and awareness, students settle only for the best. They prefer to learn using newage testing tools. In fact, coaching centres are under constant fear of losing students to progressive institutes which use assessment solutions.
