A group of 15 students from the reputed Fontane-Gymnasium school in Rangsdorf, Germany, visited The Scindia School in Gwalior to study Indian agricultural plants. The three-week trip, partly funded by the Robert Bosch Foundation, took the youngsters to Gwalior, Bharatpur, Agra, Delhi, Jaipur and Ranthambore. A group of Scindia boys would reciprocate the visit by travelling to Germany for 20 days in May / June this year as part of a student-exchange programme with Fontane.

Samik Ghosh, principal, The Scindia School, said: “This was an important student visit for us because we lay great emphasis on acquiring a better appreciation of environment and ecology, as well as different cultures. We already have student exchange programme with countries such as the UK, US, Canada, Australia, and Kenya. The German students were very happy to be here to get an experience of the flora of India and its rich cultural traditions. The Scindia boys too learnt a lot about Germany by exchanging notes with them. Both participated in a lively debate about the pros and cons of genetically modified foods etc.
