Mou signed

Universities of Glasgow and Delhi speak the same language when it comes to academic partnership – and English literature in particular. last week, Professor Dinesh Singh, vice-chancellor of the University of Delhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Professor Anton Muscatelli, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Glasgow, to formalise their links.

Both universities are members of Universitas 21 (U21), the leading global network of world-class, research-intensive universities for the 21st century. The U21 AGM, presidential symposium and student summit were hosted by the University of Glasgow over the course of last week, allowing the formal signing of the agreement to take place.

The first venture of this exciting collaboration will kick off in autumn this year when colleagues in Glasgow will use video–link technology to teach aspects of English literature to students in Delhi. The exchange is a two-way one — Glasgow students will receive lectures in post-colonial literature from Delhi.

Development workshop

IMI conducted a workshop on case writing and case teaching workshop. Focusing on the demand of the students for an active role in their learning, the workshop — Ivey Case Development Workshop — was organised at its campus in New Delhi.

The four-day workshop was conducted  by Prof Ariff Kachra from May 26, 2014. Prof Ariff Kachra said: “Having a visceral experience is the key to effective learning, especially at a time when companies are complaining that graduates are ill-prepared for the real world of work. The world has changed and we have to educate young people today based on understanding, not information.”

Dr. Pritam Singh, DG, IMI said: “The  students demand an active role in their own learning. This workshop will enhance participants’ skills and enjoyment as a case author.

Global education interact

Global Education Interact (GEI), an educational and interactive seminar by The Chopras was recently held in Mumbai. The  event gave a  definitive platform that aided students in solving their  many quandaries associated with higher education.

Naveen Chopra, founder and chairman, The Chopras said: “With GEI, we seek to act as a bridge between international institutions and Indian students who are keen on studying abroad. The platform will enable students to carefully examine their various study options and to narrow down on those few that suit their specific requirements the best. This way the students will have adequate back-ups without being overwhelmed by too many choices.”

The fair will continue till  June 4, 2014 spanning across 11 cities like Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Delhi. About 50 universities from eight countries like University of Manchester, University of Nottingham, University of lancaster, University College  Dublin, James Cook  University SP Jain School of Global Management etc.
