There are a lot of new cars coming up in 2018, and some of them are cruising in pretty soon

There are a lot of exciting cars coming up in 2018, and some of the more exciting ones will be making it here around the Auto Expo that takes place in February in Greater Noida.

Second-Generation Renault Duster

While on the face of it, the second-generation Duster doesn’t look all that different from the first-generation vehicle, it is much changed under the hood and inside.

There are many facelifts expected this year, the Hyundai i20 primary among them. Also expect facelifts for the Hyundai Eon and Mahindra TUV.

The new BMW X3

Actually a car that I have already driven but the third-generation X3 is yet to be launched. Much like the Audi Q5, it will be entering a much more crowded segment with the Jaguar F-Pace, Range Rover Velar, Volvo XC60 all taking up spots in this highly-competitive segment. BMW is also expected to bring in the 6GT and the new M5 to India.

Third Generation Suzuki Swift

The Suzuki Swift has been one of the most successful cars in Maruti-Suzuki’s history, and it also helped Suzuki regain a foothold in many markets across the world. But now its third generation, which was launched in many markets last year, is making its way into India, six months after the launch of the Dzire which is based on the Swift. The new Swift takes all the themes of the car and adds a modern twist to it. Prices should remain similar to the current Swift although Maruti might have a challenge with the Ignis, Swift and Baleno all occupying a premium segment of the market.

The new Audi Q5

Has Audi been a bit late in bringing in the second- generation Q5 given the huge success of the first-generation of the vehicle but as Audi recycles its range, the Q5 also gets a makeover. Much like the first-generation car that shared a family look with its siblings so will the new Q5. Don’t expect there to be many changes to the engine line-up though. Audi is also expected to bring in the next-generation A8 as well as the new Q2.

Toyota Vios

While Toyota dominates the MPV segment with the Innova and does well in the large sedan category with the Corolla Altis, however the Etios has been a bit of a damp squib. But can the Vios do better. A car in the Honda City/Hyundai Verna segment, this could potentially rip the segment wide open.

Honda Civic

The Civic comes back to India after missing a whole generation cycle. Can it be the huge success that the first generation model was. And given that the introduction of Bharat Stage 6 norms will make smaller diesel engines unviable, it is the time for the Civic VTEC to make a comeback.
