Pioneer

Teacher’s Day is celebrated in India on 5th September  to commemorate the birth anniversary of the country’s former President, scholar, philosopher and Bharat Ratna awardee Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan.  Keeping in consideration the guidelines issued during COVID President of Western Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (WRWWO), Tanuja Kansal, celebrated this day virtually with all its members.

According to a press release issued by Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, Sumit Thakur, Kansal put forth her views during the gathering. She shared her gratitude towards the first teacher of every child — the mother and also paid respect to all the teachers who have shaped our lives in many ways. Kansal also highlighted our ancient Gurukul pattern of education and the Guru-Shishya Pramapara  that has been followed for many centuries and is still being revered. Illustrations about it were given and names  of Chanakya with Chandragupta Maurya and Dronacharya with Arjun and Eklavya were also recited. Dance performances were presented to pay respect to Goddess Saraswati and Gurus.

Teachers and caretakers of the Badhwar Park Nursery School which is run by WRWWO, were also felicitated for their hardwork and contribution. The programme was attended by all the divisional WRWWO Presidents and members. Such celebrations affirm the resolve of WRWWO towards providing support and motivation to railway employees and their families.
