All the running around, getting chores done with the extra hours put in for safai of the house might’ve not left you much time for yourself. You may turn to YouTubers and other stylists for your quick fashion/food-fix this Diwali
The past few days have been spent in a clean-your-house frenzy with all the gharwalas rushing around getting the chores done while some embark on the yearly rounds to various rishtedaars’ houses to exchange the mithai ke dabbe or the more fancy hampers. Then came dhanteras and again the ever-tiring trip to the over-crowded bazaars had to be undertaken.
Most of the people must’ve already picked their Diwali outfits pairing it with the perfect accessories and footwear while some might go on a last minute shopping spree looking for the matching dupatta or footwear.
You may also turn to YouTubers who are uploading their Do-It-Yourself videos on getting that ensemble right with the different hairdos and make-up tutorials.
Nidhi of the Beauty Mantra channel (which has around 70,000 subscribers) shared some inputs on how to get the look for this festive season. “Keep the base natural. Don’t make it heavy, even for the evening look. Smokey eyes and bold red/ deep berry lips would work for those who want to go on the heavier side. Black and grey are safe bets for smokey eyes. For those who want to experiment a bit with smokey eyes then try shades of blue. For Diwali night one can go for hues of burgundy and plum.Highlight eyes with kohl and groom the eyebrows. Cobalt blue eyeliner is in this season. This eyeliner goes with all complexions and practically all outfits,” she shares.
For the ladies who are not into getting dolled-up but then the aunts nudge you into it then, they can stick to kohl, mascara and lip/cheek stain.
You may want to go for a messy hairdo or stick to a ponytail or braids. “It all depends on the attire you wear,” she says.
Komal Khulbe of Delhifashionblogger has been on a mission to making sure that her 30,000 subscribers are “happy and content” with three new videos every week.
“Nice plum shades and sleek buns are some trends to follow for this festive season, you can customise any look according to your face structure,” she tells us.
Fuss-free and easy to find and use products is also what she believes in. “It completely depends on you, you can use any product with plum shades. Be it eyeshadow, lipstick or a blush, even the slick hair buns can be done with a messy fridge to frame your face if you have a broader face structure.”
For that mesmerising outfit for the festive evening, Khulbe shares that fusion is always a good idea but right now the trends are more towards well structured minimalistic outfits such as a straight fit trousers with kurtas.
“Rich fabrics such as silk, cotton silk are always in trend with a strong structure and bold colors,” she adds. For men she feels that they can “rediscover the regal Indian wear with classic bandhgala jackets and raw silk kurtas.”
Designer Vani Vats says festive wear has to be easy and flowy. “Use of rich fabrics and easier silhouettes with subtle embroideries and hints of gold or silver are a great idea. Wearing lightly-embroidered crop top lehengas, shararas, or embroidered pallazo sets are a good option,” she says.
