Anil Kapoor's 24 is the first real action drama on Indian TV

Indian crime dramas have been theatrical and superficial but with Colors’ new multi-star series 24, expect some real action on TV. The thriller show, an Indian adaptation of American series of the same name, will place Anil Kapoor as the chief of anti-terrorist unit and is based on the concept of real time. The show captures Jai Singh Rathore and his life in real time spread across 24 hours. Stellar performers like Mandira Bedi, Neil Bhoopalam, Tisca Chopra, Anita Raaj, Ajinkya Deo will be seen playing significant roles along with the cameos of Anupam Kher, Shabana Azmi, Rahul Khanna and Richa Chadda. Abhinay Deo, director of the show said, “We are treating the show like a film — a one-hour feature film which is 24 hours into 24 parts. So from that perspective our approach has been slightly different from how normally television shows are. Be it just the trailer or the overall quality of the show, viewers will get what they have always been wanting on television. The trailer will give the audiences a sneak-peak into the action, suspense, thrill and drama leaving them on the edge of their seats in this fast-paced show.”

Anil, who started his stint in the international cinema with Slumdog Millionaire, was also featured in the eighth season of the American version of 24. He said that the show has been transformed according to Indian sensibilities.
