One who works for the betterment of all constituencies with the motive of service is considered as a great statesman, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj ji

One of the great breakthroughs in human understanding over the past 40 years has been the realisation that all complex systems — economic, political, biological, mechanical, environmental, or social — behave according to a simple set of common principles. The rules that govern the behavior of one set of systems usually apply to other kinds of systems as well. However, looking at the larger picture of the world, one would see that inspite of making enormous progress in all fields of life, its our misfortune that still there are so many problems existing in this world for so long and yet there is no sign of even their partial solution or slight abatement. So what exactly could be the cause or one of the major causes of these problemsIJ

History has recorded horrid accounts of individuals and communities who made successful or unsuccessful attempts to capture or usurp power or to dominate neighbouring or far-flung sections of society through the use of the might of military arsenals and by indulging in heinous crimes, bloodshed, butchery and great devastation in the process. It is a pity that the society and some history books eulogised the acts of such persons as acts of great valour, chivalry or courage instead of condemning these as acts of barbarity and great crime against humanity! The result of this perversion of values was that, in later times, the rulers or the nations thought it wise to build military might, the ambitious rulers invaded militarily weaker neighbours and deprived the people of their sovereignty and freedom.

History is also witness to the fact that there have been many events of extension of ideological domain through the power of the sword and coercion. Those who carried fire and brimstone with them and indulged in savage military conquests of other people in order to spread their ideology were praised as great heroes or martyrs. It was said that they deserved houries in heaven, their nefarious acts of violence were labelled as ‘holy wars’ or ‘great revolutions’. The result has been that communal acts of hatred and carnage have persisted even until this day. There have been political figures who were experts in the art of machinations, manoeuvres, sycophancy and intrigues and who could do any thing to satisfy their lust for power. History books and society honoured them as great politicians and shrewd statesmen instead of calling them as unprincipled men hungry for power. The result of this has been that politics has today come to be identified with lust for power rather than with service.

Under such a scenario, if at all , we wish to have a better world, then we will have to build a new world culture, based on right values. It has to be a culture in which only he who conquers the vast territory of his mind, is considered a brave man, and he, who demonstrates the worth of his ideology by his practical acts is considered a religious hero, and he who works for the betterment of all constituencies of the state with the motive of service is considered as a great statesman. Remember! only right values and right culture can bring about a better world.
