Bollywood celebs reacted to Narendra Modi’s iconic victory and called it a “blockbuster” performance

Bollywood celebs, who mostly refrain themselves from making political statements, have slurred a sea of congratulatory messages for BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi over his iconic win. Shah Rukh Khan, didn’t mention Modi’s name in his tweet but his smartly selected words definitely hinted that it was for Modi. It read, “What a solid mandate given by the people. It proves again that the only constant is change. Now to move forward with strong and active faith, India.” He expressed his faith for a stronger country under a new leader. Karan Johar described the BJP’s show in the elections as a “blockbuster.” “BJP…the first major Blockbuster of the year!!!! Huge opening and no sign of a Monday drop!!! (sic),” he tweeted.

Filmmaker Subhash Ghai said, “Congress thinks in English and translates it into Hindi. BJP thinks in Hindi and translates it into English but speaks Hindi. So attitudes. India expects next govt of BJP to choose ministers with knowledge, foresighted impartial and spiritual mind. Not based on political compulsions (sic).”

A few days back, Bollywood stood divided when several celebs including Mahesh Bhatt, Imtiaz Ali, Zoya Akhtar and Nandita Das signed a petition asking people to vote for secular forces. Bhatt has severely criticised BJP often at public spaces. However, after the mandate, he wrote a sort of caution note on Twitter. “All governments have certain control over you. But who you are, what you think, feel and believe is yours, that is that real You. Protect it! (sic).” Kabir Bedi called Modi’s campaign as “the most brilliant election campaign in political history.”
