To live a peaceful, contented, liberated and happy life, one needs to be aware of his real identity and soul. Only then one can make the world a better place, says Rajyogi Brahmakumar Nikunj Ji
Almost everyone in this world has been putting efforts to make a better world that is free from all kinds of fear and insecurities. However, amid all this, we must not forget that a major breakthrough in a man’s efforts to bring about a change comes only when he knows his real identity. The present world-crisis, also known as the crisis of values is, in fact, a deep crisis of self-identity. While we might have discovered many lost continents or land-masses on the globe, this ‘continent of the self’ is yet to be discovered or rediscovered by each one of us. Thus, we first need to be aware of the truth that we have, in us, a certain potential of divine qualities or a core of human values which are now lost in the sea of the sub-conscious and the unconscious mind. These now have to be brought back to the surface, in the light, and have to be used as the keyboard for our actions.
We also need to realise that with the cremation of a body, all of our deeds, good or bad, or our abilities and qualities, are not lost. Neither do our good actions go unrewarded forever nor do we go unpunished for our bad actions. We need to realise that we are an eternal being, a soul or a being-of-light. However, when we realise our real identity, we take a new ‘mental and a spiritual birth’ and, in a way, it automatically and naturally improves us and our relationships with others. So we may adopt whatever strategy we think is suitable for a particular country or a group of people, but let us keep in mind that sooner or later, we have to be aware of our real identity and self. Ignoring this knowledge would never make us reach our goal of a better world.
Today, we all identify ourselves with the body that we have acquired because we are unaware about the immortal entity called ‘soul’ which resides within us and functions through our body. The ignorance about the existence of soul results in ‘body-consciousness’, due to which we struggle to improve our condition throughout our life without understanding the fact as to why the physical and mental conditions and environments of two individuals differ widely right from the time of their birth. We get baffled by human sufferings and untimely deaths on a mass-scale caused by natural calamities, terrorism, violence and wars due to which we constantly fear our death. In this whole merry-go-round, we fail to realise that unless these basic aspects of life are rightly understood, the body-conscious approach is bound to be there. Considering one’s physical existence as the ‘be all and end all’ of everything results in our adoption of wrong values in life, which, in turn, makes us commit wrong acts and consequently causes suffering. No wonder, despite striving hard, we’re unable to avoid sorrow and sufferings in life. Hence, in order to live a peaceful, contented, happy and a liberated life, proper knowledge of one’s real self that is, the soul, its functioning and its role in the world, is important.
