Backpacking, reading and watching Dexter are some of Karan Kundra’s favourite pastimes. He chats with I Kaur about his energetic lifestyle and forthcoming film Horror Story
He may seem the “preachy” adult who lives life quite in accordance with his reel persona in Gumraah, but in reality, Karan Kundra is quite the opposite. His forthcoming film Horror Story shows him in an avatar that relates to his reality. He plays the role of a person who doesn’t believe in the supernatural. He is shown to be the boy who is always in control, never breaks down and relies heavily on the survival instinct. “In reality too, I love such things. My favourite television series is Dexter and Breaking Bad, so I guess I manifest these things,” he quipped.
The 28-year-old admits that he can’t sit still for even a minute, “As actors, we anyway don’t have much of a life. We don’t even get weekends off. I don’t like to sit and waste time. I like being adventurous and look for creative satisfaction 24/7. I’m a very curious person. Right now, in spite of a hectic schedule, I’m going for a workshop for three hours a day. I need these energies to feed on. I need them to keep me going.”
Kundra has established himself with his stints on television that have been received well and found him popularity. However, a lot of his fanbase comes from the North because of his Punjabi movies. “I love doing Punjabi films. I think they are a lot of fun and I associate with the language. I try and do whatever makes me happy,” he shared.
His entry into Hindi films will be with Vikram Bhatt’s Horror Story. He said that his association with Bhatt is one he enjoys and hopes will last. “I was shooting for a TV show, The Serial, when I got a call from Vikram Bhatt’s office. I liked him the moment we met because I’d always heard of him and I have grown up seeing his films. He was witty and nice and he knows the industry inside out. He said he’d be interested in making a film with me and a month later I had the script at my doorstep,” he said.
Kundra will also be seen in Rum Pum Posshh, a psychological thriller for which he is shooting at present. Despite his big screen presence, he doesn’t plan on leaving the television industry anytime soon, “As long as I’m with Gumraah, television is going to be on my list. I’m not much of a planner so I can’t say what my next move will be. I go with the flow.”
He will also be seen along with Ajay Devgn, who will be his co-host, on Gumraah Season 3’s forthcoming episode on Sunday.
