After hopping on the Rapid Metro and capturing the cinematographic beauty of the evolving city, the filmy style on-the-wheel panoramic extravaganza, GAADI BUlAA RAHI HAI, was a treat for Bollywood fans out there. Conceptualised by Kumaon literary Festival in association with Gurgaon Rapid Metro and Quiz Craft, the two hour long ride started from Sikanderpur Metro Station.
“There is a great connection between Bollywood and literature. People like Bimal Roy, Guru Dutt, K. A. Abbas and Gulzar always tried to familiarise the work of the literary figures like Prem Chand and Tagore with the masses of India through cinema”, said Sumant Batra, founder Kumaon literary Festival. The journey was as entertaining as the 14 reels family drama of a Bollywood blockbuster that comprises all elements of wholesome entertainment. “The fusion of literature and Cinema always produce a great work and a healthy entertainment”, he added.
The ride began with a mind-twister Bollywood Quiz, which was a test for a real Bollywood fan. “We didn't expect a lot of quizzers though but the kind of answers we got was phenomenal”, said quizmaster Aditya Nath Mubayi, who led the Bollywood quiz. Sharing his experience of the ride, he said, “It was rocking and rolling. When everybody is flying off to exotic destinations around the world, it feels great to revisit the scenic and beautiful cities through train”, he added.
After an hour long thrill, the post interval session was rather musical. Participants sang songs as the train moved towards end. “Music is one thing that has always defined Indian cinema. We don’t find much of it in the west. But music and songs are the elements that have kept Indian cinema alive and fresh. They tell so many stories”, said Aditya. At the end of the Bollywood ride, Sumant said, “Kumaon literary Festival is promoting the emerging talent that aid in cultural progress and social consciousness of communities, and these are essential indicators for measuring the happiness quotient, growth and success of its members.”
Raising the bar of literature, the second session of Kumaon literary Fest will be held from 11th to 15th October.
