With Social opening its third restaurant in the capital, the newly-opened Odeon outlet promises to take foodies in town back to their innocent school days. By Riya Sharma
When Social was launched in Hauz Khaz Village, it took the dynamics of restaurant chains to another level. Whether it was their unusual way of labelling things in Hindi or presenting the food and alcohol in the most coolest manner, it became the ‘next cool thing’ in the social circuit. So, when the big news came that Social is going to open its new chain in the heart of Delhi, Connaught Place, foodies and party goers in town could not resist themselves from attending the big launch.
At the launch of the Odeon Social, we thought that we were taken back to school. Also, if you are wondering why is it called Odeon Social, then we must tell you that the newest property in the Social family is situated right on top of the Odeon cinema with message displaying, ‘Now Playing Social’. What a filmy mix, we must say. If you look at the interiors, they give you a mixed feeling of a school as well as contemporary designs. When we are talking about school, how can we not have a home-science lab which is actually their kitchen.
Then, there is a separate area dedicated only for meetings. To our surprise, this restro and bar has a wide space which one doesn’t find in many restaurants in Central Delhi. Not only this, the place also has a bar which is 42 feet long. When we went for the launch, at least 12 waiters were busy serving swirling, making exotic drinks for the guests present. What we really liked was when we were served a welcome drink in a plastic blue coloured water bottle (like the ones we took to school). That actually took us back to school. All of this, coupled perfectly with waiters in uniforms and the manager dressed as a headmaster.
Riyaaz Amlani, CEO and MD, Impresario Handmade Restaurants on the occasion said, “With the launch of our third Social in Delhi, we stay committed to the creation of innovative and easily accessible workspaces across the city. The initiative stays true to its course — a collaborative space for inspired ideas where creative energies can complement each other. And of course, we continue to push boundaries across food and drinks as well, for a relaxed space where you can work and play. Odeon Social only adds to our network of intelligent collaborative work spaces spread across the city with the convenience of easy access.”
All of this came with the musical beats of techno artistes, Ash Roy and Calm Chore. The evening with great music, drinks and the perfect setting, made our day and we could not have asked for more. So, if you are in CP, next time and wish to revive your good olden school days, you know where to head.
