One of India’s most celebrated dancers and choreographers, Prabhudeva talked to Utsav Mishra on gifting his parents their new home in Mumbai
Of all the basic necessitites that a person can possibly require most is a home. And to experience the pleasure and joy of presenting your parents with one is unparalled. Very recently Prabhudeva experienced that feeling as he guided his parents to their new home in the heart of Mumbai. The gesture was a gift from a famous home decor and appliance company.
As a young boy he had seen his father struggling to make his ends meet. That is why probably he had so much of energy and patience in him to struggle his way in the entertainment industry, moving back and froth between Mumbai and Chennai.
“It had always been a wish to give my parents something with my hard earned money. And now after so many years in Bollywood and also in the South, I decided to move base to Mumbai. We used to live in Mysore and I used to see my father work really hard. It was then that I decided that one day I would give all the comforts to them. I feel very nice and happy because as it is every child’s dream to do something big to make their parents proud and I have done this for my parents so I am happy,” said Prabhudeva, who was earlier staying on rent in Boney Kapoor’s lokhandwala residence.
Before moving to his new home, he had the house redesigned to give it a personalised touch. Tulsi Mehta, a designer from the company, supervised the entire process. She had several meetings with him to discuss his specific requirements. “Soon we decided on a basic theme and the team worked on it to transform the place. I am very happy with the whole decoration of the house. It is exactly according to my need and I would like to thank everyone who made my dream come true,” he said.
It was an emotional moment for the dancer and his parents when they first saw their new house. It is extremely endearing to see how Prabhudeva is still close to them and always puts their needs before his.
One of the main concerns that he had mentioned to the transforming team was that it had to be comfortable enough for his parents. “I asked the team to furnish his entire home to suit my parents, mostly my mother,” he added.
“It feels good when someone gets a big opportunity in his/her life, and my parents have always dreamt of having a beautiful home where they could get all the comforts in a peaceful environment. And I feel very happy that I have made my parent’s dream come true. As of now, I’m fully concentrating on direction since I can’t be here all the time. I also want to convey to every child to give a gift to their parents when they can and make them proud,” he wrapped up, a hint of satisfaction in his voice.
