Soha gets a letter from Big B

Megastar amitabh bachchan has written a letter of encouragement to Soha Ali Khan, who praised her book The Perils Of Being Moderately Famous. Soha shared the letter on twitter. It read, “The term ‘spine and spunk' comes to mind on picking up your book. It doesn't matter how much polite and self-deprecating fluff you have on the outside.”

“Even though on the surface, you are sort of reticent and shying away from the spotlight, your genuine and funny sense of humour has been skillfully portrayed confirming that you possess a steely something in the middle that says ‘You know what, I'm actually really good at this, and this is what I can do, and now I have done it,” he added.

‘It’s pretty extraordinary to hear that phrase in front of my name: ‘Oscar Nominee’. I'm having a special moment right now. It feels pretty exciting. I created the character on my own, from screenwriter Steven Rogers’ beautiful creation vision of her,’

Actor Gary Oldman says he is a private person and not good with crowds. It has been a good year for Oldman. He won a Golden Globe, a SAG Awards honour, tributes at the Santa Barbara and Palm Springs film festivals for his role as Winston Churchill in the film Darkest Hour. “It's all very nice. No complaints. But there's an energy of people coming at you that you absorb. It's quite frenetic. The night of the Golden Globes, I must have taken 300 selfies and it felt like I had met 1,000 people. And they are all lovely and gracious and well-meaning.”

Viola on gender pay parity

Actress Viola Davis says she is compared to icons like Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore and Sigourney Weaver but she is nowhere close to them when it comes to remunerations and job opportunities.

The award-winning actress opened up about feeling underpaid and overlooked throughout her 30-year career.

Davis said, “They all came out of Yale, Juilliard and New York University. They had the same path as me, and yet I am nowhere near them. Not as far as money and job opportunities are concerned, nowhere close to it.”

She added, “People say, ‘You’re a black Meryl Streep.. We love you. There is no one like you’. If there's no one like me, you think I'm that, you pay me what I'm worth.”
