Anil Kapoor talks of having a personal trainer to help him prepare to play Jai Singh Rathore on the second season of 24. He tells Sharabsti Mallik that shooting for a demanding show like this is equivalent to eight films
It might be a bit delayed than expected but Anil Kapoor is soon going to be back on the small screen with the second season of 24. And this time he is more aggressive. “Who wouldn’t when they lose their family after he has done his job wellIJ”questioned Kapoor.
The second season begins two years after the first one ended. And the loss of his wife has made him more cynical than ever. “On top of that he is not in talking terms with his son but to some extent daughter understands him. He has left the Anti Terrorist Unit and has turned into an alcoholic and the events have made him bitter,” the actor shared.
At the official launch of the show the actor mentioned that 24 has been the most taxing assignment of his career. “Doing a movie is much easier as it’s just one movie. This is like eight movies... eight action films together. That’s the difference,” he said.

How do you manage to be so energetic at this ageIJ
I feel that body is a temple. The more you work hard , preserve and worship it the more it will accompany you. And I treat my body as a temple and be positive.
What is your take on the delayed release of the showIJ
Because of my prior commitments to complete the two movies that I last did I could not manage to give time to the show. Moreover it needs a lot of preparation because this is the biggest, most expensive and successful action show. Ten times more money is put in this show as compared to others. And we also did notwant to compromise on the quality of the as we did not want to hurt the DNA and soul of the story and wanted to maintain the level. We couldn’t loose our old fans in order to create new ones.
Why you plan to fabricate this show in a form of a serial rather than movieIJ
When I worked for this show in America I realised that this would be really helpful for Indians because terrorism is a root problem for us, too. Moreover patriotic characters like Jay Singh Rathore are needed to inspire people for not doing the work. Not just because he does it in a fiction show but just to enthuse the young generation to do something for the cause.
Why is it named it 24IJ
Because it is a story of twenty four hours. Its concept is of real time. Total 24 episodes , one hour each.
like 24 there are more shows which are inspired from foreign series. So why can’t we do it with Indian content IJ
Its my next dream also to make my own Indian content that travells all over the world and to put foreign people in it. So surely we should do it..
Is there any training that you are pursuing for this showIJ
Yes, of course. Because this is a very physical show so we need to train to run very fast, to do a lot of martial arts and kind similar of action because it’s a role of an agent and I have to go through rigorous training for that. I have to be really fit and as far as body is concerned there is no end to it. For this I have a personal trainer, too. This is very high obtained demanding show.
