At the inauguration of The Festival of Gold organised by MMTC, Ved Prakash, CMD of the company shared details about the festival’s success
The city’s mega jewellery event, MMTC’s Festival of Gold, concluded with impressive sales achieved over the four days it was held for on the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya. The grand exhibition-cum-sale saw crowds pour in from across the city to get their hands on MMTC’s wide array of gold and studded jewellery, sterling silverware, gold and silver medallions, and the Indian gold coin. Celebrated model and Femina Miss India International 2011 Ankita Shorey also paid the event a visit and tried on several pieces of the exclusive jewellery on display.
The Festival of Gold, with the best of jewellery from over ten states across India, has remained a much-awaited annual event since it was introduced in 1994. This year’s edition of the Festival has done roaring business despite subdued market sentiments, with sales across the country amounting to nearly twenty crores, of which the Indian gold coin alone raked up over ten crores worth of sales.
The Indian gold coin, the first ever national gold offering by the Government of India, was not only a highlight of MMTC’s exhibition-cum-sale but remains an attraction for customers throughout the year. MMTC was assigned the prestigious responsibility of launching the Indian gold coin, which is now being retailed through the Company’s outlets and Indian Overseas bank branches across India.
Currently available in denominations of five and 10 grams and 20 grams bullion, the national coin is BIS — hallmarked and guaranteed for 24 karat purity and 999 fineness and also carries advanced anti-counterfeit features, hence protecting consumer interests. Very soon, the Indian gold coin will also be available through India Post and other bank branches across India.
“The central theme of the Festival of Gold is purity and variety and MMTC is delivering on its promise of purity and trust to customers through its retail operations,” Ved Prakash, CMD MMTC, said about the event. “Our objective is to offer a wide variety of quality jewellery from the length and breadth of India as well as value-added bullion products at affordable prices with the assurance of quality,” he said and added added about the Indian Gold Coin, “It is our endeavour to encourage consumers to choose the Indian gold coin as their preferred purchase by offering it at IOB branches and our own retail outlets across 31 cities in India. This coin is a symbol of purity, standardisation and monetisation, making it an ideal purchase for everyone.”
MMTC is the biggest brand in the precious metal sector and the only Government of India enterprise in the jewellery business. The company is delivering on its promise of purity and trust to customers through its retail operations and the popular Festival of Gold.
