The prime time ticket

Deebashree Mohanty, SANGEETA YADAV

Deebashree Mohanty, with Sangeeta Yadav, brings to you the latest reality show on TV

Apart from the concept, it is the unique mix of mentors that  grabs all the eyeballs in the Ticket to Bollywood reality show on NDTV Prime. Imagine the bubbly Mahima Chaudhury, entertainer Jasbir Jassi and cool  dude of cinema Mukesh Chhabra sharing screen space. The end result is a lot of lol moments.

“Judging a reality show is tough because sometimes we mentors disagree on a contestant and end up having an ugly fight. I may like the melodious voice of a person while Mukesh and Mahima may think he has no acting capabilities. I feel bad that such a talent is being wasted so I refer him to my unit and we roll out a project for him,” Jassi who is known for his big heart apart from his foot tapping music, tells you.

The dil legayee kudi sensation wants to be remembered for his versatile acting in the Punjabi film industry as well as for his other albums. “Dil legaye kudi...  brought me into the limelight but abhi aagey badhte hain,” he tells you, adding that he is looking for that X Factor in the candidate who will run away with the ticket to bollywood.

Although only the Delhi, Chandigarh and Bhopal legs are over, the mentors are aware that they have their work cut out. “I am already very tense about judging such talent. They all have X Factor how can we differentiateIJ,” actress Mahima Chaudhury says.

For her, Delhiities were an aggressive lot but Mumbaikars are going to give them stiff competition. “Contestants from Bhopal and Chandigarh were soft spoken and  unsure but in Delhi every single person was oozing confidence,” Chaudhury says.

Out of the many people who are auditioning only 20 will get selected and will be hosted in Mumbai for the gala episodes. The three-month reality show will have 60 episodes which will telecast from 9pm to 10pm on NDTV Prime. Two lucky winners will get an opportunity to star in a Bollywood movie produced by NDTV.

“I feel, the young crop of actors has had it very easy. They have a lot of opportunities coming their way so they don’t mind messing up. I am also very unhappy with the vulgar lyrics that have become popular these days,” Jassi says. For Chaudhury, the young breed in Bollywood is talented but lacks the dedication and innocence of her time.
