Not everyone lands a full-fledged role opposite the Kapoors in her debut film but newcomer Pallavi Sharda says her destiny favoured her for once in a conversation with Deebashree Mohanty
Imagine singing and running around trees with Ranbir Kapoor in your very first film! When Australia-born Indian actress Pallavi Sharda got a call to do the lead role in Besharam, she thought it was a prank. It was too good to be true as Bollywood is known to go for newcomers with a Godfather.
“My idea of Bollywood was shaped by outsiders and most of them don’t have such a good impression of this industry. Now that I have done a few films, I know this is not such a bad place,” Sharda, still celebrating her dream debut with friends in Sinagpore, tells you.
The spunky girl who had did some two-bit roles in Heroine and My Name Is Khan, says she had a horrid first few months in Mumbai but now things have sort of settled down.
“I was very upset about my reported link-up with Anurag Kashyap. He is my mentor, how can I date himIJ I am single and focused on my career. I don’t need a man at this point of my life,” she says.
Ask her who is a better person, Ranbir or Rishi Kapoor, and Sharda blushes away. “They are both great. But Ranbir is very, very hot. He is a great dancer and a wonderful human being. Rishi Sir is more strict and keeps to himself. I was quite nervous to face him and Neetu maam. But Ranbir was chilled out. A bindaas person. We have become great friends,” she tells you, gushing.
As for her upcoming projects, there is lot up Sharda’s sleeve but she is not willing to give anything away just yet. “I am super thrilled about a cameo in Aamir Khan’s film which is going to be released next year. That is something I am looking forward to. Otherwise, I have signed up for a couple of more films with fresh faces. You will see a lot more of me in the coming nine-eleven months.
