Maldives arrests v-p over plot to kill prez
Male: Maldives Vice-President Ahmed Adeeb was arrested
on Saturday over last month’s alleged attempt to assassinate President Abdulla Yameen in a bomb blast on board his speedboat, the Government said. Adeeb’s dramatic arrest at the Maldives’ main international airport followed “extensive investigations by both local and international agencies,” the Government said in a statement.
Madhesi agitation turns violent again
Kathmandu: Several people were injured on Saturday when supporters of Madhesi parties turned violent and attacked buses and other vehicles being escorted by security forces in southern Nepal near the Indian border where they have been agitating for over a month against the new Constitution.
Nepal to elect new president next week
Kathmandu: Nepal’s Parliament on Saturday began the process of electing the country’s next President as per the the newly-promulgated Constitution.
