Yet another edition of a Batman game is here and gamers tout this to be better than most other games. For those who are passionate about virtual gaming, it has become a trend of sorts that organisers come up with two or three parts in the same label.
“These things are getting as frequent as the Assassins Creed franchise now. Jokes apart, it is always fun to have another adventure of the caped crusader. like the previous two games (Arkham Asylum and Arkham City) Arkham Origins is paced out over a single night,” avid gamer Anshul says.
The game takes place before the earlier two installments and in more ways than one is a prequel. In this version, one will meet a number of characters who will either fight with you or be your ally. Anyhow, moving on to the game play, the fight system is more or less the same as the previous two editions. The boss fights are hard and like before, very prompt heavy. Parts of the map seems to have been recycled from an earlier edition and you have to cross a really long bridge several times.
New weapons in the game are a pair of gloves that charge when one beats up opponents, a detonator that can be used against massed attacks and finally a claw which can be used in a multitude of ways. Gamers tell you that the only thing missing in this is that one can’t fast travel everywhere. “You will need to like Far Cry, disable common towers before you are able to jump between districts,” Patnaik says. This game seeks to explore the origins of the Batman vs Joker theme, but fails to go deep enough and seems a little disconnected. Although the gamer will buy the point that this is a fictional set, but even then some coherence would have been nice. The fun part as always, is that every problem has one solution. Thrash the opponent silly.
On the whole this game seems a little rushed and lacks minor details and flourishes that make the blockbuster action adventure games that wow factor.
