Creature (3D)
Starring: Bipasha Basu, Imran Abbas Naqvi, Mukul Dev
Rated: 5/10
Why would a man who is all alone with a flat tyre on a highway go looking for the source of a roar in the middle of the jungleIJ Everybody knows that a noise in the jungle means bad news. Of course, in Bollywood, it means that the person has to go investigating. Curiosity, as they say, killed the cat. So Bollywood should not make an attempt to make movies that are tagged sci-fi even if they are directed by horror master Vikram Bhatt.
First, we don’t have the technology to create a monster that can instill fear in the audience. Second, we don’t have the capability to hold the suspense for very long — and in this one, the face of the creature is revealed in the beginning taking away the fright quotient. Finally, the face of the creature is not frightening enough.
The background music, the roar and the heavy thud of its approach are a dead give away of its presence as is the dead silence that follows its attack. This means that everything, from the beginning to the end, is very predictable. One is confidant that the director could have come up with a better explanation than a Brahm-raksha that can be killed with a weapon that has been dipped in holy waters of the Pushakar lake only on a specific day. In this case a gun that was used to kill a similar creature some 70 years back.
With no surprises, this Creature is a tad boring to watch.
