It's different

Pragya Mittal

Rajesh Kumar aka Rosesh Sarabhai of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai fame, who has recently replaced Bollywood actor Yashpal Sharma in Neeli Chatri Waale, talks to Pragya Mittal about how he enjoys his work

  •  Best part of playing a God:
The characters that I played earlier were more about comedy but the role of Bhagwan Das in Neeli Chatri Waale is more human to me. It’s emotional aspect makes it different from the other roles that I have done so far.
  • Getting into the shoe of the character:
It was a bit difficult because there was not much time to prepare for this role. It was more difficult for my co-actors and the loyal viewers of this show to accept me in this role because the replacement was quite sudden.
  • Your take on comedy:
I find comedy the toughest form of acting and if you know how to do comedy roles then you know everything about acting. Every role you do becomes easy to act if you know the comedy.
  • Biggest achievement:
I am achieving and learning something everyday. After being in this industry for over a decade, I am still getting lead roles. I have worked very hard to reach where I have. Also, I am getting the kind of work I always wanted to do. I didn’t have a port folio after working on TV from 16 years. I believe in giving on the spot auditions. The biggest achievement for me was the love of my fans and the support from my family and everyone. Because of their acknowledgement and appreciation, I’m still getting a lot of opportunities to work on TV.
  • Plans to direct a TV show:
Earlier, I was offered to direct the second season of Yam Kissi Se Kam Nahin on EPIC channel where I’m playing Yamraj. But eventually, I was called for Neeli Chatri Waale so I put that show on hold.
  • Plans for reality show:
Not as if now. I don't have much interest in reality shows like Big Boss though the show was offered to me. And the dance reality shows are not being offered yet so I haven’t given that a serious thought. But if they do approach me, I may consider.
  • Comeback of Sarabhai vs Sarabhai:
No, because I doubt that now audience is still going to give that much appreciation to the show like they gave earlier. Also, the characters of the show have grown old and it will not be possible for all of us create that magic again.
  • Movie plansIJ:
I worked in Super Nani movie but it didn't work out well for me. So, right now I am happy doing TV shows and want to concentrate on that.
