Web-glitches force Cong to open 'khidkee'

Want to know about Himachal Pradesh CongressIJ Please visit- www.jpcc.org.in! Yes, already among least Internet penetrated States of the country, Congress leaders and followers from Jharkhand are a frustrated lot particularly when the party is as seasoned as 129-year-old and now pumping in everything in a desperate attempt to come close to its tech-savvy contenders—be it the Aam Admi Party or the BJP.

The situation is so when a large team of Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee has already attained a long session on adopting social media practices in Delhi about six months ago and forming a special cell for that in Ranchi. The legwork on paper started when Priya Dutt, AICC media secretary, visited Jharkhand and assigned tasks for the leaders here.

Since then the party is toiling hard to get its own webpage for the State that can have information about the unit and its programmes in the lines of AICC’s official website but in vein. “We are trying hard and soon we would be revamping it completely,” was the brief answer of PCC president Sukhdeo Bhagat who accepted that there are lacunas on this front.

The AICC website has not just that blunder only. ‘Congress in States’ section shows name of Jharkhand Congress legislative Party leader Rajendra Singh with picture of a leader unfamiliar to even the PCC chief and others! Surprisingly, most of the leaders and in-charge of so called ‘social media cell’ are even unknown to the glitches.

“let me see the pages first. I am not aware about this. But as now we have a new team in place for the JPCC, a meeting in this regard would take place after December 28. We know that the section is to be started from scratches here. We are planning an entirely new website as per the plans. It would be in the lines of AICC’s one and come to public domain as soon as possible,” said Pranav Jha, the newly appointed in-charge for the section.

Moreover the party is banking upon a brand new window to tap opportunities available through social media. ‘www.khidkee.com’ is the new social media network coined by the Indian Youth Congress. “It is a space for political conversations which would provide a common platform for likeminded workers and activists. Starting from national level it would go up State, district and block levels which would help Congress family connect as one across India,” said Rajesh Rudra, another member of the cell.

The social media like platform would be interactive in nature where anyone can come and share their views, post ideas, suggestions and even critics. The party thinks that in this way it would be able to connect to the masses in more democratic manner as it would be open for anyone to express views and flag reservations. “The party is learning nuances from parties like AAP who have gained a lot through social media like facebook or twitter. It is an attempt to reach the people with technique which is democratic as well,” said a senior party leader. Effect of the exercise is yet to be seen especially when Congress is up against imminent polls, both nationally as well as in Jharkhand.
