Vaastu Vihar residents seek regularisation from RRDA

PNS

Vaastu Vihar Residents Welfare Association (VVRWA), after being served a notice from RRDA to vacate the flats they are living in, has requested the authorities to reconsider the decision of demolishing over 100 flats in Ormanjhi area.  The association, through a press release has claimed that the construction of Vaastu Vihar could not be called illegal rather it could be called irregular and the residents of the society must be given a chance to get their flats regularised after fulfilling the required formalities.

“This is a unilateral action taken against us, neither were we informed about it. Moreover, the RRDA replying to an RTI had said in 2012 had said that the construction site did not come under its jurisdiction,” said VVRWA president Ranjan Kishore. After the RRDA put its back, the project was passed by the Circle Officer of the area, added Kishore.

Technically, the construction could be irregular, but it could not be called illegal as permission had been taken from a competent authority of the area. In this case, it is not justified to demolish the shelter of hundreds of people, mostly retired and aged, living in the houses acquired out of their hard earned money.

All of a sudden the RRDA men came on July 08 handed over the notice to the society to vacate the flats within a week. Kishore said that the decision is totally injustice and the residents of Vaastu Vihar must be given a chance to prove their points and reconsider the decision taken by the RRDA authorities.
