The shopkeepers of Upper Bazar have got relief for the time being after the order of the tribunal came on Tuesday evening. The tribunal has fixed February 7 and 8 for the next hearing of the matter. Till then the tribunal has ordered the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) not to take any action.

On receipt of information about the sealing of shops by RMC, hundreds of traders, under the leadership of Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FJCCI), protested against the RMC’s action by closing shops in Gandhi Chowk, Upper Bazar. FJCCI Chief, Dheeraj Taneja expressed his gratitude to the Court for the decision in favour of the traders till late evening in this matter.

The civic body has issued a notice to seal many shops in the Upper Bazar of Ranchi. After which the team of the corporation reached Upper Market on Tuesday morning and started taking action to seal the shops. After which the shopkeepers opposed it. The RMC’s team and the shopkeepers came face to face. Shopkeepers and women started protesting by sitting on the road. Along with this, the municipal team was stopped from moving forward. The shopkeepers said that till the decision of the court comes, the corporation should give relief to the shopkeepers.

The shopkeepers of Upper Bazaar were agitating since Tuesday morning against the order to seal the shops. The shopkeepers were opposing the orders of the RMC. In this sequence, former CM Raghubar Das reached before meeting the shopkeepers. MLA CP Singh and RMC Deputy Mayor, Sanjeev Vijayvargiya were present along with Das. The former CM was apprised and informed by the Deputy Mayor about the whole matter. After which Das said in support of the shopkeepers that the shopkeepers were safe under the BJP rule, but the present government was exploiting the shopkeepers and this is not fair dealing with traders.

Upper Bazar area is the biggest market of Jharkhand where multi-storey buildings have been erected even in the street of 10 to 12 feet. In which there are some buildings which have been constructed illegally. Despite making the same commercial complex, parking space was not given in it.
