The two more persons — Turia Tirkey and Mangra Toppo — accused of raping a 16-year-old girl, were arrested on Wednesday by the Ratu police.

The police had arrested eight persons, accused in the case, mostly minors, on Tuesday after an FIR was lodged at Ratu police station by the girl's family members on Monday late evening, taking the total number of offenders to 10.

"The remaining two accused persons — Turia Tirkey and Mangra Toppo — have also been arrested from Itki and Banhora near Ranchi. They have been sent to jail after producing them before the court," said SSP Bheemsen Tuti.

According to the SSP, out of 10 accused persons arrested in the case, seven are minors, including a 12-year-old boy, will be dealt with accordingly by the court.

"Three of them have been sent to jail while the other seven minors were sent to the remand home," he added.

The arrested persons are from the nearby Banhora and Kamre villages under Ratu police station who are said to have confessed to their crime.

Mission-24, as coined by the city police to crack the gruesome rape incident, gets completed with the arrest of the two accused persons. "As all the 10 accused persons in the Kamde gang rape got arrested, Mission 24 is complete now," said Rural SP SK Jha.

The girl had left home in the name of attending coaching classes on Sunday, but went to Kamre temple located at Ratu road with one of her friends. Suddenly, some locals surfaced and forcibly lifted the girl to a nearby place where they committed the crime, says the FIR lodged by the police.

The clothes of the girl have been sent to the Forensic Science laboratory (FSl) for test.

Meanwhile, chargesheet in Bariatu gang-rape case, where a 12-year girl was raped by the two persons, is yet to be filed by Bariatu police station, as some test results are awaited by the investigating officer- Monica Tudu.

"Both the accused have been sent to jail while charge sheet is yet to be filed in the case as some of the test results of DNA test are awaited in the case," said Tudu. "The charge sheet will be submitted anyhow, even if the test results are not received within 60 days of filing the FIR as it is mandatory," she added.

A 12-year old school girl was raped on December 18 when she ventured out of her house to visit a nearby shop. The victim in her statement to police had alleged that she was forcibly picked up by the accused who, took her to a secluded place and raped her. The girl hailed from Tetartoli, a tribal hamlet under Bariatu Police Station.

The accused were audacious enough to visit the rape survivor's home and threatened her father not to report the case to the police or be ready to face the consequences.

Thereafter, hundreds of angry residents had laid siege to the Bariatu police station and blocked the busy Bariatu-Booty road for three hours to protest the gruesome incident, forcing the police to arrest one accused in the case. Another accused was later arrested on his tip-off.
