No gun. No cartridge. It was chalk, duster and black board. SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha used chalk, duster and black board not in any class of the Palamu Police line but on the campus of the NPU’s GlA College. He did not lecture but he taught said students who attended his class on Thursday.
Mahatha taught 250 students. It was a motley crowd. The students came from different strata of the society but were having single and common goal how to crack competitive examinations. Speaking to the Pioneer, Mahatha said ‘I found very large number of students coming from the village back ground. The urban look was just confined to a dozen or so. Majority of students have their farmer parents or parents eking out a living outside the district or State’.
He said ‘I used chalk, duster and black board only to draw diagrams to tell students that writing examination is not only hard and an arduous mugging of subjects but also a tactical handling of the questions too’
NP university here has arranged free coaching classes of 2 hour duration for its students to crack competitive examinations. SN Singh VC of NP university said ‘Our college teachers are doing a good job. Our students’ response to this coaching class is equally satisfactory’.
Mahatha said ‘I felt happy when a student answered escape velocity. Just one student asked as to how to crack civil services examinations. I asked him to read good books’.
SP was in plain clothes resembling any assistant professor of college. He wore no spectacles nor carried any books under his shoulders.
Sources said Palamu police have now some free time as naxal activity is too down but not out. Police are arranging goshthee (sittings) with villagers, giving tips to parents not to send their children to river or water body, stop any propaganda of braid cutting of women etc.
Police are also motivating women to rise against illicit wine if clandestinely prepared in their locality.
Mahatha quite understandably asked students to crack police jobs in State, IRB, JAP, SSB Railway Protection Force etc.
He said ‘I did not give any dos or don’ts but a simple recipe of honest and hard lanbour to reach goal in life.
