SDO to look into JSCA poll row

Amidst the clouds of uncertainty over the election of Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) the dispute has now reached the office of Dhalbhum sub division on Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) East Singhbhum, Himani Pande has directed the SDO Subodh Kumar to pobe into the allegations of by-laws violations made by a faction in the JSCA. “We have asked the SDO to look into the matter of by-laws violation that was raised by JSCA member Manoj Yadav,” said Pande.

Meanwhile  Manoj Yadav said that he had written another letter to IG-Registration requesting her to ensure the compliance of the May 21 order. The order had instructed JSCA secretary Rajesh Verma to conduct the polls for the post of president and other office bearers, slated to be held on May 25, under the supervision of deputy commissioner in a free and fair manner.

Talking to newsmen here Yadav said he was quite sad to see that Verma was doing nothing with regard to the order. "On the contrary he himself was seemingly involved in manipulations to ensure the victory of his boss and incumbent president Amitabh Choudhury. He was trying to save those who were forging documents. We have also strongly objected to the exclusion of 194 members from the voter list," he said adding that he also submitted a copy of his contentions in the office of the DC.

Earlier, in the day, several of the JSCA members including candidates made several visit to the DC’s office to seek her appointment but they couldn’t meet her as she was occupied with an administrative work in the district court.  When approached the SDO said he has not yet received any letter from the DC and therefore cannot comment anything on the JSCA elections.

The election is poised for an interesting fight this time. For the first time in the history of the apex cricket body in the State, two IPS officers are in fray for the president’s post. After a gap of seven years, JSCA chief Amitabh Choudhury is set to face a contest for the post of president from Praveen Singh who is DIG in the Special Task Force.

Election would be held during its Annual General Meeting on May 25. With just a couple of days left for the polls the candiates have launched an agressive campaigning by knocking at the doors of the voters.
