In a bid to overcome problems and sufferings due to shortage of staff, Ranchi Regional Development Authority (RRDA) has passed the proposal of appointment of assistant and junior engineers and surveyors on contract basis, the process for which will take-off after getting necessary approvals from the government. In its meeting held on Friday after previous meeting was forced to be suspended on March 20 due to non-cooperation of some of the members, the Authority also discussed about writing off or reducing labour cess among many other proposals.

RRDA Member Manoj Kumar Pandey said that the issues to be discussed during previous meeting which was suspended last month were prime matters of discussion on Friday. “Modernisation and expansion of Birsa Bus Stand remained one of the key proposals during the meeting today. A Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be got prepared for the same. We have also passed the proposal of getting DPR of New Daily Market on Main Road prepared from a consultancy company,” said Pandey.

He added that the organisation relieved one of its junior engineers Brij Bihari Prasad who had been transferred to some other department but was not leaving RRDA. “He is also reported to have been busy in illegalities in RRDA area and taking money on the name of the Authority. We have sent him back to the department he had come from. He was actually transferred to another department some six months ago, but was not reporting on his new workstation and had continued working with RRDA forcibly,” said Pandey.

Apart from discussion over budget for FY 2017-18, the authority is also said to have ordered demolition of loyola School in Hinoo area among a few other buildings over illegal design maps.
