AICC general secretary and Congress Jharkhand in-charge RPN Singh on Tuesday visited Katrah, Jharia, Bokaro and Dhanbad to take stock of the situation over there arising out of closure of Dhanbad-Chandrapura rail line and also coal mine fire.

large number of locals and party workers came to meet the leader where he expressed concern over shutting down the line. “I find no reason behind the Government closing down the line which was like a lifeline for the coal belt. People are suffering because of no fault of theirs’. looking at the difficulties of the lakhs of locals the Government should immediately revoke its decision and allow running trains on this route,” said the former Union Minister on his return.

He also visited underground fire affected areas of Jharia where displacement of the local residents is the biggest threat. “The State Government as well as the BCCl management have done nothing to make sure that livelihood of the displaced is not affected. Just passing diktat to vacate the place is not proper. Most of those who are affected due to the fire are poor earning very little.
