Sheer human intelligence helped Palamu police to crack a professional incident of road hold-up on Shahpur Garhwa road in a record time of 72 hours, that too without any technical back up.
The road robbers were exercising all wisdom not to use any looted cell phone nor were they in touch with each other on their cell phones. It was almost a black out of information but officers led by DSP Heeralal Ravi under order of SP Palamu Patel Mayur K lal cracked the case and recovered as many as 20 looted cell phones, cash worth `9,000 and four country-made guns along with seven cartridges.
SP Palamu Patel Mayur K lal said, “This cracking of the case of road hold up was done without any technical assistance.”
Patel Mayur said the gang of road robbers turned out to be the same who had in the year 2013 created terror in Garhwa when Garhwa MlA Satender Nath Tiwary’s vehicle was fired at by these same men in which the MlA’s security guard had opened retaliatory fire leading to the death of one of them, Babloo. Patel Mayur said he was SP Garhwa then and knew their modus operandi well. He alluded to his DSP Ravi and said he too had a fair input about this gang of the road robbers. This Shahpur Garhwa road robbery took place on the intervening night of November 9/10. Cash worth `22,000 was looted. The road robbers had looted drivers and occupants of five trucks, and four other four wheeler.
The place of loot was Yogeeyaha More on Shahpur Garhwa road. Since the place of occurrence was too close to Garhwa district Palamu police thought the Garhwa district police would take up the case. Sources said precious time was lost in identifying the PO as to where the case actually falls, in Garhwa district or Palamu district.
DIG police Palamu Saket Kumar Singh said, “Police ought to have swung faster instead of deciding where the PO falls in. Time was definitely lost in registering the case”.
SP Palamu Patel Mayur said, “Two victims of this road robbery were called in from Garhwa district who helped us to locate the PO and finally the Palamu police swung into action and the road robbery case stands cracked.”
