Officials of Ranchi Division, South-Eastern Railways, celebrated 61st Rail Week with pomp and show on Tuesday. DRM Deepak Kashyap presided over the ceremony as the Chief Guest at Railway Officers Club near Hatia railway station.
The DRM recounted achievements of Ranchi Railway Division in the past year, emphasising that this became possible due to the diligence and coordination of the employees.
The Week is celebrated between April and May to mark the anniversary of first train in India which ran from Mumbai to Thane on April 16, 1853 and employees are honoured for their performance. Keeping up with the tradition, 117 Railways officials were felicitated during the celebrations for their exemplary service.
