Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) declared the first ever Jharkhand Teachers Eligibility Test (TET) result on Tuesday. Khortha has drawn the maximum language teachers in both level 1 (class 1 to 5) and level 2 (class 6-8). Moreover, male dominance was seen among the qualified teachers here.

As many as 21521 and 41947 teachers had been selected for the Assistant teacher posts in the TET level 1 (class I-V) and 2 (VI-VII) categories. On the other hand, 790 and 1181 were selected for the Urdu Assistant teacher posts.

Among the 18 local languages marked by JAC, seats for Asur, Birhor and Malto were vacant in the level 1. Only one teacher was selected individually for Asur and Birhor languages in level 2. For Malto only two teachers were chosen.

JAC Secretary Sushil Kumar Roy said, “Our job as the examination body was to take the examination of the vacant teaching posts. The further recruitment would be done by the State Human Resource Development department.”

TET 2012 was held on April 26 this year wherein more than 2 lakh candidates had appeared. “Candidates outside the state are also expecting a positive response from this examination,” said JAC Chairman Anand Bhusan.

Jharkhand is facing faculty crunch in its schools and colleges since its bifurcation from Bihar. This TET would be managing the shortage.
