Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) on Thursday demanded probe against Urban Development and Housing Minister, CP Singh after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rajya Sabha MP, Mahesh Poddar alleged irregularity in works being done by Singh’s department.

Addressing a press meet JMM, General Secretary, Supriyo Bhattacharya said here on Thursday that this is not first time that BJP MPs and Ministers have raises questions on the functioning of the government but several times in the past such kinds of incidents occurred.

“Poddar wrote an open letter to the Urban Development Minister regarding functioning of his department. The MP had written several times in the past but after not getting satisfactory answer from the Minister, he was forced to write open letter to him.

He alleged through the letter that the Minister is running a business and he directly accused the Minister for financial fraud in Rs 200 crore Smart Sewerage Projects. There was Rs 100 crore projects of Harmu River but after spending the money the river became a drain. Rs 300 crore has been spent on beautification of ponds but the result is clear. There is case of financial fraud of Rs 600 crore. Where the money gone it should be investigated by judicial enquiry as the Chief Minister is repeatedly saying that zero tolerance against corruption,” he added.

Criticising functioning of the Government, Bhattacharya said that on several times in the past one of the Minister of the Government, Saryu Roy had raised questions on the functioning of the Government. “Being Cabinet Minister in the Government but at several times Roy boycotted Cabinet Meeting of the Government saying if I will attend the meeting I will also be penalised for wrong decisions of the meeting. This shows somewhere public representatives are also in pressure so that they are raising question on the Government,” he added.

The party General Secretary demanded that the money of the failed projects should be recovered from concerned Ministers and officers.

Indicating towards poor condition of drainage system of the State capital, Bhattacharya said at one side there was condition of draught in the State but if there was little rain than all the drainage system becomes blocked and total water starts flowing on roads.
