The sanitation workers of the Dhanbad Municipal corporation (DMC) workers went on a flash strike on Wednesday to protest alleged attack on municipal commissioner(MC) Satyrndra Kumar on Tuesday night inside the corporation located within campus of Jharkhand Mineral Area Development Authority (JMADA).
Kumar happens to be the acting managing director of the authority too. The dependents of a deceased employees of the authority had gherowed the office of municipal commissioner- cum- managing director demanding emloyment on
compassionate ground.
They are staging on dharna since last one year outside gate of the JMADA and on Tuesday had went to see the MC but when he refused to meet them they sat outside the office building in protest.
The situation turned ugly on Tuesday late evening when the sanitation workers and other staff were called by municipal authorities to creat a safe passage for municipal commissioner for his home.
Scuffle caused injuries to dependents when driver of the MC attempted to runover the official vehicle used by the commissioner on protesting family members of the deceased employees of the authority.
Some employees of the corporation also manhandelled journalists and attempted to snatch the camera and mobile they were using to cover the incident.
Soon after, this the employees announced strike claiming manhandling of MC by the dependent.
On Wednesday while the MC was asked to comment on strike said," It's there strike I cannot do any thing . Its on their will when they would call off the strike".
In another move the striking employees were served lunch in spot outside the corporation office.
The dependents too are continuing their stir stating that would fight till get justice.
