The district administration and Jagannathpur temple managing committee including traffic personnel is all set for the Rath Yatra cum fair to be held from July 6 onwards in the state capital. The administration has already initiated the re-carpeting work of the roads that leads to the main temple. Re-carpeted roads will not just facilitate a smooth traffic but will also ensure that devotees, who throng to tug the Rath, do not face any hiccups.

As per the tradition, lord Jagannath leaves Jagannathpur Temple for his annual trip to ‘mausi bari’, along with brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra. The chariot makes its way through the road to ‘mausi bari’. The guideline for re-carpeting the lane that leads to the main temple along with clearing encroachments was issued by Ranchi SDO Aditya Kumar Anand in the meeting conducted recently with the temple committee members for the annual festival.

Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manoj Kumar, said, “Vehicles will be parked in the designated open grounds in and around the vicinity of the main temple so that traffic movement is not disrupted. 50 magistrates and extra police force will be deployed to guard and assist the devotees. Apart this, water tankers and ambulances will be there at few demarcated places to tackle the emergency need. All other mandatory arrangements are being checked and entire city is under surveillance for two big occasions, Rath Yatra and Eid.”

Approximately, 50,000 devotees gather at the temple to offer special prayer on the occasion. The fair organised every year on the occasion of Rath Yatra attracts people not only from Ranchi but also from adjoining areas too. Traffic routes too have been diverted for auspicious occasion. “Stretch leading towards Jagannath Temple from Shahid Maidan will be barricaded completely.
