CPI's BP Mehta accepts defeat

Accepting his defeat in a bizarre manner, CPI candidate from Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency and former MP Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Mehta announced that the

voters of Hazaribagh had not voted for him and he thus accepted his defeat in the poll.

“On 17th April, the voters of Hazaribagh parliamentary constituency have not voted for me, I accept my defeat,” CPI’s State secretary Mehta said in a press conference here on Thursday.

“Before election I had announced that it will be my last election and adhering to it on Thursday, I gave my party in writing that in future I will not contest any election,” he said.

In this election many persons who were close to me have betrayed which was beyond my expectation. Initially, it certainly hurt me but after a week I think that everyone has the right to think independently and make his opinion.

So now, there is no enmity or pain or any such thing in my mind and heart for those, added Mehta.

Ex-MP Mehta said that in this parliamentary election the money power has defeated public power.  Money was spent like water in this election and till the last date of polling different types of rumors were spread in the constituency regarding my position and candidature.

A total of Rs1 to 5 lakhs had been spent in every village of the constituency by a candidate to break my voters.

Blaming election commission for not checking the money game in the election, Mehta however added that those who tried their best to malign his image and to break his voters will also get surprised when the final result will come out from the EVM.

Clearly hinting on AJSU, Mehta said that their dreams too will shatter on 16th May.

Boldly coming out as perhaps the first candidate in fray of 16th parliamentary poll who has accepted his defeat, Ex-MP Mehta reminded that he will continue in public life as a worker and in future too people will see him in streets battling for the poor on the issues of water, electricity, road, migration, displacement etc.
