Cong lambasts NDA over land Bill

PNS

Congress on Monday lay a blame on the Bhartiya Janta Party-led government of using the mandate given by the people to turn a welfare state into a “police state” by putting elected representatives under surveillance and demanded a probe into the alleged spying on party Vice-president Rahul Gandhi.

The party expressed concern that the saffron party could go ahead with surveillance activities to keep scribes, bureaucracy and political parties under watch. "We demand a judicial commission or a Parliamentary committee to probe the matter. It is aimed at suppressing democracy and it is a matter of grave concern for democracy," said AICC Spokesperson Ajay Kumar.

Kumar claimed that the decision of the BJP-led NDA government has no legal sanction ad even former Delhi police commissioners Ved Marwah and B K Gupta denied that any such procedures had been there.

The former IPS turned politician slammed the NDA government for tweaking with land Acquisition Act and Forest Rights Act and lambasted the central government for its alleged anti-common man policies reflected in the amendments made to the original land bill. "The BJP Govt is for only one per cent of the population. It is not bothered about middle class, peasants and poor. If the bill is passed, even houses in cities would go in the name of creating infrastructure,” said Kumar.
