Cong, JVM blame game begins after poll debacle

Roshan Kumar

Blame game within the Congress led four parties of Mahagathbandhan in State has started after the alliance suffered humiliating defeat in the Lok Sabha elections. Days after State Congress president Ajoy Kumar tendered his resignation from party post taking moral responsibility, another Mahagathbandhan leader has been asked to leave the organizational post.

Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) president Babulal Marandi on Tuesday asked Pradeep Yadav to leave party general secretary post after the latter’s name surfaced in the alleged molestation of a woman spokesperson of party.  JVM chief Babulal Marandi on Tuesday wrote a letter to Yadav seeking his explanation in alleged molestation case of a party spokesperson and asked to give the reply within three days failing to which he will be removed from party general secretary post.

However, hours after Marandi’s letter, JVM general secretary himself resigned from party general secretary post taking moral responsibility on his defeat from Godda seat. Yadav the MLA from Poreyahat (Godda) lost to BJP’s Nishikant Dubey in the Lok Sabha elections. Despite opposition from Mahagathbandhan camp especially from Congress Furqan Ansari, Yadav who was adamant contested the election and lost to BJP candidate.

Sources in the JVM claimed that after the results of Lok Sabha, much differences has erupted in JVM camp between Marandi and Yadav and the resignation of Yadav is seen in this direction.

The internal bickering is not only visible in JVM camp, but the State Congress is also divided in two groups one group supports Ajoy Kumar who resigned from party president post and the other that directly blames Ajoy Kumar for party’s debacle.

Recently, two Congress leaders Surendra Singh and Rakesh Sinha, who are said to be from Subodh Kant Sahay camp blamed Ajoy Kumar for party’s defeat. Singh said: “Ajoy Kumar has remained as inefficient chief of Congress party.  He is surrounded by his own coterie and never interacts with senior party leadership.”

Singh demanded appointment of some local Congressmen as State president as he will be able to understand with state politics in better way.

Internal bickering is also in RJD the other constituents of Mahagathbandhan in State. Demands for replacing RJD state president Gautam Sagar Rana is getting momentum. The RJD too is divided in two camps one demanding replacement of Gautam Sagar Rana as state president with Abhay Singh as new RJD state president.

The internal bickering in RJD camp had started during election when Subhash Yadav was made RJD candidate from Chatra. Some RJD leaders had opposed the candidature of Subhash Yadav terming him as outsider.

RJD former president Annapurna Devi a month before the election left party joining the BJP on the ground that outsiders were getting preference in State RJD. Annapurna Devi had contested the election from Koderma on BJP ticket and won defeating JVM heavyweight Babulal Marandi.
